INDEPENDENT IELTS PREPARATION

A flexible 28-day IELTS study plan

چار ہفتوں کا لچک دار مطالعہ پلان

Use this schedule to organise an introductory preparation cycle. It alternates focused practice, review and reflection. Twenty-eight days does not guarantee readiness or a target band; adjust the pace according to your starting skills and available time.

Original introductory practice, not an official IELTS test or band assessment. Independent exam-specialist review is pending.

Week 1: understand your starting point

Confirm the test type and try a small sample of all four skills. Keep a mistake log that records what happened and why. Choose one recurring problem to work on first.

Weeks 2 and 3: focused practice

Give each session a narrow purpose, such as identifying a corrected number in listening or developing one argument paragraph. Review the work before starting another task. Include speaking and writing feedback from a qualified person where possible.

Week 4: combine and evaluate

Use official materials for a more realistic timed practice, then review patterns in your errors. Repeating the same questions from memory is not the same as improving. Decide what the next study cycle needs.

One focused practice task

Choose a realistic daily study time. For each session, record one thing that improved and one thing to revisit. If you miss a day, continue with the next task rather than rushing through several tasks at once.

  1. Day 1Confirm the required test type and collect official sample materials.
  2. Day 2Try a short listening sample and note how you checked the answers.
  3. Day 3Read a short passage and explain the evidence for each answer.
  4. Day 4Write one paragraph and identify its main point.
  5. Day 5Record an answer about a familiar place or routine.
  6. Day 6Review the mistakes from the first five sessions.
  7. Day 7Rest or repeat the one task that needs most attention.
  8. Day 8Practise listening for a time or number that the speaker corrects.
  9. Day 9Compare True, False and Not Given with a short passage.
  10. Day 10Plan an Academic Task 1 overview or a General Training letter.
  11. Day 11Develop a Task 2 point with a reason and a concrete example.
  12. Day 12Use one minute of notes for a longer speaking turn.
  13. Day 13Check a recurring spelling or grammar problem from your log.
  14. Day 14Review your saved work and set next week’s priority.
  15. Day 15Use an official listening sample and review unfamiliar sounds.
  16. Day 16Work on finding a paraphrased idea in a reading passage.
  17. Day 17Write a Task 1 response for your chosen test type.
  18. Day 18Write a Task 2 response and check that every task part is addressed.
  19. Day 19Discuss a wider issue related to your speaking topic.
  20. Day 20Get qualified feedback on a writing or speaking sample if available.
  21. Day 21Rewrite one weak response using what you learned.
  22. Day 22Plan a realistic practice session using suitable official materials.
  23. Day 23Practise listening under the conditions described in those materials.
  24. Day 24Practise a reading section and check evidence after timing ends.
  25. Day 25Practise writing with separate planning and review time.
  26. Day 26Record a fresh speaking topic rather than a memorised answer.
  27. Day 27Compare recurring errors across the month and choose three priorities.
  28. Day 28Plan the next cycle; decide whether you need more time or qualified assessment.

This is an introductory planning aid. The website does not currently supply a complete official-format mock-test bank or qualified band scoring. Use official samples and suitable human feedback to assess readiness.
