Learning data stays in your browser
Completed lessons, bookmarks, course checklists, saved words, game scores and writing notes use this website’s localStorage on your device. Theme and animation preferences are also stored locally. An optional account can hold a cloud copy of learning progress that you explicitly save. Writing notes and recordings are excluded. You can export, import or delete learning data from My Learning. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see it.
Optional accounts and cloud copies
We store a nickname, salted password hash, recovery-code hash, account creation time and the progress you choose to save in Cloudflare D1. No email address is required. A secure HttpOnly session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Session tokens are stored as hashes. Rate-limit counters use a daily hash of the connection address and expire; they are not used for marketing. Cloud copies remain until replaced or the account is deleted. Delete your account from the Account page to remove its cloud data and sessions. Export progress from My Learning before deletion. A recovery code can reset the password; we cannot recover a lost password without it. Cloudflare backup retention may delay removal from provider recovery copies.
Audio and microphone
Listen buttons use the browser’s speech synthesis service. Available voices and whether synthesis uses a device or remote service depend on your browser and operating system. The speaking recorder asks for microphone permission only after you press Start. Recordings remain in browser memory and are not uploaded by this website. They disappear when the page closes.
AI requests, when enabled
The current Study helper searches prepared lessons entirely in your browser; it does not send your query to an AI service. Prepared translation examples also run locally. The live translation backend is disabled. If a live service is enabled later, submitted text will go through our server to OpenAI; the existing backend requests store:false. This is not a claim that the provider has no retention. Any future live tutor, service configuration and privacy notice must be reviewed together before activation.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts this website and processes connection information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver pages and protect the service. This is separate from the learning progress stored in your browser. The disabled AI backend does not create AI usage records while it is off. External providers may process data outside your country under their own policies.
Other requests
The page requests fonts from Google Fonts; that service receives normal connection information. Dictionary data is served as a static file. There are no advertising trackers or marketing forms. Google Analytics is enabled only for requests Cloudflare identifies as coming from Pakistan. It measures page visits and predefined learning actions, such as completing a lesson or game. We do not send usernames, passwords, writing notes, recordings, search text or translation text. URL queries are removed and referrers are reduced to their origin. Google receives normal connection and device information. Analytics cookies expire after 30 days; Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected. You can turn usage analytics off in the footer. Outside Pakistan, or when region detection fails, the Google tag is not loaded. Reports therefore do not include every visitor. External resource links take you to websites with their own privacy practices. We will update this notice before introducing advertising, payments or live AI processing.
Support email and privacy requests
Basharat maintains this independent project. Email contact@urdutoenglish.net for privacy questions, access or deletion requests concerning support correspondence. Messages sent to this address are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to our support inbox at Google Gmail. Your address, message and any attachments are processed to answer your request. Avoid sending passwords, identity documents or sensitive information. Support correspondence is retained in the support mailbox while handling enquiries and maintaining a record of the issue; it is not automatically deleted by this website. You can request deletion by email, subject to any applicable legal obligations.
Children and shared devices
Lessons can be used without registering or giving us a name or email address. Accounts are for learners aged 13 or over and require a nickname, a password and age confirmation. Younger learners can use guest lessons with a parent or teacher. Younger learners should ask a parent or teacher before contacting support or following external links. A parent can request deletion of a child’s support correspondence. Export your learning data before clearing browser storage, and use a separate browser profile on shared devices. We cannot recover browser-only progress for you.
